SMOT offers a curriculum that is a unique blend of meeting your short term goal of getting the right fit job and long term goal of shaping up as a specialist in the chosen area of expertise. The industry wants people with a blend of freshness in attitude and focus in delivery.
The curriculum at SMOT designed to career tracks immediately attracts the attention of the potential employers as they are able to clearly see what they want to recruit for and the specializations that students have done. Supply Chain or Finance Analyst or Retail or Market Analyst or Business Analyst - these are exactly the rolls that the business graduates are expected to take on and deliver and these are exactly the specializations that the students at SMOT would do.
While you try to shape up your future career, you are most likely influenced by factors such as your present occupation or job, whether you want to change direction or looking to re-skill yourself to better your current performance, the kind of experience you already have etc. Even the geographic factors, such as the type of city you are from, will have a say in the opportunities that are thrown open before you. The above mentioned roles are one of the most responsible roles which are provided to highly experience under-graduates or MBAs from premier institutes(esp. in case of big MNCs). These are the roles any MBA student would look as an ideal option.
I completely support the point that the career tracks offered in SMOT makes the institute unique and provides a better edge over other B-Schools where people would know their roles only when offer letter is given to them. But still , I feel it is not easy for each and every student in SMOT to get these kind of roles immediately once they get out of the program. It largely depends on the individuals effort and talent to grab these profiles from big MNCs which all the student should keep in mind.
“The industry wants people with a blend of freshness in attitude and focus in delivery.” These terms exactly fit here. With ever-accelerated changes, good qualities should not only be cultivated but also be mastered at this stage.
When everybody is SMOT gets such good profiles, I am sure that the SMOTians can be very proud and can say that they are on the sucessful run to be one of the best B-Schools in India comparable to IIMs, XLRIs and all other brand schools.
